Miami Art Week

Miami Art Week is the largest and most prestigious art event in the country and takes during the first or second week of December in Miami Beach. There are over a dozen art fairs and shows which are organized during this time that attract art lovers, collectors, curators, connoisseurs, and enthusiasts from all over the country and the world.

The prime event which kicks off the Miami Art Week is the Art Miami premiere anchor fair. It is one of the most prominent art events in the country and the city's longest running contemporary art fair, and has been going strong for 22 years. Every year, it attracts thousands of artists, dealers and collectors who come to admire and purchase a wide variety of modern and contemporary art from over 100 galleries and prominent art institutions from around the world. Over 50,000 people attend Art Miami which boasts millions of dollars in transactions and sales. Art Miami takes place in the city's growing Wynwood arts district, at Miami Art's 125,000 square foot pavilion. Prices for passes to the Art Miami range from $15 to $60, depending on the how many days, and they can be purchased online or at the event.

Another prime event of the Miami Art Week and one of the most anticipated and popular art shows in the country is the Art Basel, Miami Beach. The art fair is held at the Convention Center in Miami Beach and displays incredible pieces of art such as painting, photography, digital art, film, sculpture, print and video from over 260 art galleries worldwide. The Art Basel, Miami Beach has the particularity of having a large number of international art galleries; in fact over half of them come from outside the US. Look out for galleries from the Americas, Europe, Asia and even Africa. Over 2,000 artists come to display their artwork which can range from the most simple to the most extravagant.

Besides the main art galleries at the Art Basel, Miami Beach, attendees can find great art at the Art Nova which showcases art pieces from 42 galleries and over 100 artists from the past three years. To uncover some cutting-edge art projects from over 10 countries, head over to Art Positions which were once held in containers on Miami Beach. Also check out Art Kabinett which features dozens of curated collections with thematic group exhibitions. Tickets to Art Basel, Miami Beach cost $40 for a one-day pass and can be purchased at the event's website or at the Miami Beach Convention Center.
