The Venetian Pool is a wonderful place to spend a relaxing day in Miami, and its unique lagoon-like design and beautiful Venetian-style architecture are a sight in themselves. The large swimming pool has depths that range from four feet to eight feet and has two pools of two feet ideal for kids. Swimming here is fun with waterfalls, grottos, caves, a cobble stone bridge and even a beach sandy area where you can lounge around and catch some rays. It's a great place to go if you want to swim but are tired of fighting the crowds at the beach.
The Venetian Pool is always undergoing renovations so it is wise to check before going. Operating hours are 10 am t 4:30 pm from February 1 through April 3. From April 4 to May 28, operating hours are 11 am to 5:30 pm Monday to Friday, and 10 am to 4:30 pm on Saturdays and Sundays.
In the summer, the pool stays open longer, at least 7 pm. Note that the pool is closed on Thanksgiving Day, New Year's Day, Christmas Day, Martin Luther King Day, and President's Day. If you hate crowds, avoid going to the Venetian Pool on the weekends, opt instead for a weekday visit.
The pool costs $11 for adults ages 13 and up and $7.35 for children 3 to 12 for non-residents of Coral Gables. Residents of Coral Gables pay $6.30 for adults and $3.95 for children. Pool guests are allowed to leave the pool and re-enter with their receipt. If you have small children, you must know that children under 3 are not allowed in the Venetian Pool.
The pool is very strict about this rule and you will need to provide a birth certificate. For safety concerns, children must also be at least 38 inches tall to get in. There is a café on site which sells snacks, sandwiches, pizza, burgers, drinks and desserts.
The Venetian Pool is located on De Soto Boulevard in Coral Gables. It is at the intersection of Granada, De Soto, Toledo and Almeria, and four blocks south of Coral Way. If you're driving from I-95, continue south to US 1, turn right on Bird Road, right again on Granada, and continue north 16 blocks until you get to the fountain which is right near the Venetian Pool.
The Venetian Pool does not offer discounts for senior citizens, military personnel or students. Unlike many other Miami attractions, Florida or Miami residents don't get a discount at this attraction because it is considered a City Facility not a State Facility; this is why only Coral Gables residents get a discount.
The Venetian Pool is a gorgeous place where one can relax and swim amidst breathtaking lush surroundings. The price of admission is not too steep, but if you want to save some more money, you should pack your own lunches, snacks and drinks instead of dining at the café. Be sure you don't bring in coolers, glass, or alcohol with you as these are not allowed. You can also bring your own lounge chairs, towels and umbrellas so you don't have to pay the rental fee at the pool.
The Venetian Pool is fun for everyone and is a perfect way to spend the day in Miami. Kids will love splashing in the water and enjoying the waterfalls. Couples will find the Venetian Pool extremely romantic with its tropical plants and many secluded spots. There are no special group rates, but there are camp or school rates for children at $5.89 per child. Children must always adhere to the 38 inches or three years of age rule.
