Miami is a colorful and fascinating city that draws in millions of tourists all over the world. If you want to experience the best that Miami has to offer, head down to Lincoln Road and get in some of the best shopping and dining in the city. Known as the Fifth Avenue of the South, you will find here a range of national chains such as Apple, the Gap and Banana Republic but also many more luxury brands and unique stores. Lincoln Road is good to visit anytime of the week, but gets even livelier on weekends and at night when people are out looking for a signature Miami night out. Stores and restaurants here stay open late for the city that loves to party. If you want to visit the farmer's flea market or antiques show, come here on a Sunday afternoon. Keep in mind that the best time to visit Miami is during the winter and spring seasons when the weather is temperate and warm, and not too humid like in the summer. Lincoln Road is a very dog-friendly street and most shops allow dogs to enter. People watching here is the main attraction, unfortunately there aren't may place to sit and just watch people, and you'll have to go and sit at one of the many cafes and restaurants. Many of the restaurants here are expensive and not always good, so it may be better to have an ice cream cone or a drink instead of an entire meal and plan to have dinner and lunch somewhere else. If you are planning to have lunch here, be sure the restaurants give you the lunch menu and not the more expensive dinner menu.
Lincoln Road is in the heart of South Beach and is easily accessible from the beach and other local attractions. It is situated between Washington Avenue and Alton Road. If you're driving, be sure to use a map, so you don't get lost, or take the South Beach Local which has stops at all the most popular spots in South Beach. Many hotels, restaurants, and stores on Lincoln Road offer discounts for students, seniors and military personnel and for Miami Dade residents. So make sure you have your ID with you to take advantage of them.
The best thing about Lincoln Road is that people from all different backgrounds and countries come here to have a great time. The frugal traveler can spend the day strolling the streets, enjoying tons of free outdoor entertainment, having a cheap drink or dessert at one of the local sidewalk cafes and restaurants, or browsing the galleries and stores that Lincoln Road has to offer. The high end traveler will revel in all the luxury boutiques and decadent high end restaurants.
Lincoln Road is a fun place for the whole family. Kids will love the clowns, the funny characters, and the tons of entertainment Lincoln Road offers. Groups will also have a great time, but if it's a Friday or Saturday night, be sure to keep tabs on each other, because the crowds can get insane. As for the lonely traveler, he or she will enjoy sitting at one of the sidewalk cafes and enjoying the lively scenery and the swarms of interesting people. There is so much going on; it's almost impossible to feel lonely.
