Miami Children’s Museum - Attractions in Miami

The Miami Children's Museum is a wonderful place for children. They can spend hours and hours exploring the fabulous exhibits spread out all over the museum. They can make their own art and music, and play and climb over things. All while learning a lot of valuable information. This museum is like one big playground with many hands-on activities and games that all have an insightful educational edge. Kids will marvel at the impressive dinosaur display, huge fish tank and Mt. MichiMu rock wall which they can climb during their visit.

The Miami Children's Museum is open all year from 10 am to 6 pm, except for Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Day, and New Year's Day. It closes at 4 pm on Christmas Eve and 5 pm on New Year's Eve. Anytime is a good time to visit because there are always interesting traveling exhibits going on. However, summertime is an especially busy time for the museum and there are a lot of fun activities for children and adults with school being out. General admission to Miami Children's Museum is $15. Florida residents get in for $12 and children under 1 are free.

Miami Children's Museum: no adults without children

Note that the Miami Children's Museum doesn't allow adults to visit without children and no children are allowed in the museum without the supervision of an adult over 18 years of age. The Museum's exhibits, galleries, and auditorium provide accessibility to all visitors thanks to its many elevators, ramps, and special seating.

There is also open captioning in Spanish and English for the hearing-impaired and Braille and Large Print for the sight-impaired guests. On site there is a Subway restaurant, outdoor dining areas, as well a gift shop. Parking is available on the Museum's parking lot and costs $1 an hour.



The Miami Children's Museum is located between downtown Miami and South Beach on Watson Island. To get here from I-95 north or south, get off at I-395/MacArthur Causeway towards Miami Beach and exit at Watson Island, then just follow the signs until the museum. Public transportation to the Museum is also available and bus routes C, K, M and S all take there.

The Miami Children's Museum doesn't have discounts for senior citizens, students, or military personnel. However, it does provide a 50 percent discount for City of Miami residents living in the following zip codes; 33109, 33010, 33125, 33126, 33127, 33128, 33129, 33130, 33131, 33132, 33133, 33134, 33135, 33136, 33137, 33138, 33142, 33144, 33145, 33146, 33147, 33149, and 33150.

The Miami Children's Museum is a lot of fun for the whole family and provides hours of learning and entertainment. It costs $15 for adults and children alike, and visitors who want to save on their trip to Miami should consider getting a Go Miami card which provides free access to the Children's Museum as well as many other Miami attractions.

Families who plan on visiting the Museum often can get an annual membership which grants them free entry all year long, and a lot of discounts on workshops, events, and the gift shop. The family membership costs $150 a year and the Grandparent membership costs $100 a year.

Anyone can visit the Miami Children's Museum but this is a museum geared primary towards kids and teenagers and the presence of a child is mandatory to enter. This is a place children will never forget with its many fun exhibits, play areas, hand on activities and workshops and much more that take hours to explore. They'll never run out of things to do here and adults will have a great time learning lots of cool things as well.

Miami Children's Museum is half way Downton Miami, half way Miami Beach

Located in Watson Island, between Miami and Miami Beach, the Miami Children's Museum is perfectly situated in a 57,000 feet facility where children of all ages "play, learn, imagine, and create!"


The Miami Children's Museum features 14 interactive and bilingual galleries like the "Castle of Dreams," "Ocean Odyssey," and "World Music Studio" where children can learn about the many functions of the world through a different perspective. Aside from the permanent exhibits, MCM also hosts a variety of traveling exhibits as well as camps, educational classes, and meet-and-greet sessions with artists in residence.


This non-profit educational institution was opened in September 2003 after a 12-year planning and $25 million investment in the facility. Its mission has been that of a fun environment for a curious questioning mind of a child in a multicultural community which can learn and create in the Miami Children's Museum!
