The Miami Seaquarium attracts 600,000 visitors every year for good reason. It has an incredible landscape and wonderful shows of various marine mammals such as seals, whales and sea lions. Here you can feed the sharks, swim with the dolphins and discover various exotic fish, birds, and sea turtles, alligators among other species. As the original set for the famous Flipper show, it is a wonderful attraction for kids, and many of the Seaquarium's programs and shows are designed with children in mind, but overall, it's a great experience for the entire family.
The Miami Seaquarium is fun to visit all year round. It is open 365 days a year from 9:30 am to 6 pm. If you hate crowds, avoid the weekends. During the hot summer weather, sit in the first rows of the killer whale show, kids will be delighted as they get a cool refreshing splash every now and then.
General admission to the Miami Seaquarium is $38.95 and $28.95 for children ages 3 to 9. Parking costs $8. Note that the ticket booth closes at 4:30 pm so if you're going late you might want to buy your tickets online or in advance. There are wheelchairs and strollers for rent if needed, and many food stands and services throughout the Seaquarium both indoor and outdoor. Gift shops are also available. Note that if you plan to participate in swimming with the dolphins program you will need to bring a bathing suit to wear under the provided wetsuit.
The Miami Seaquarium is located on Rickenbacker Causeway on the Key Island in Biscayne Bay. It is very close to the downtown area, the airport and the port of Miami. If you plan on driving to the Seaquarium from North, you can take I-95 and exit at 1A and just follow the signs. If you're coming from the South, take the US1 to North and exit just before getting to the I-95 ramp. You can also get there using public transportation.
The Miami Seaquarium offers $2 discounts to senior citizens 55 years and older. Military personnel can get up to 50 percent off their admission fee with a valid ID. Those who hold 12 months memberships get a 20 percent discount and Triple AAA members with a valid card get 10 percent off.
The Miami Seaquarium is a guaranteed good time for the entire family. If you're looking to save while going to the Seaquarium, First consider buying your ticket online which saves you $2 discount. Second, you can pack water, bottled drinks, and other food with you so you won't have to pay the expensive prices there. To save on the $8 parking fee, you can opt to take public transportation to the venue instead of driving. Visitors to the Seaquarium will want to partake in the dolphin odyssey programs which cost $199 for the participant, $45 for the observer, and $36 for the child observer.
The dolphin encounter costs $139. While it may seen costly, visitors with deep pockets should definitely take advantage of this service, and have an unforgettable experience.
The Miami Seaquarium is fun for individuals, groups, couples and families. It provides special group rates for groups of 15 or more at $31.75 for adults and $23.75 for children. To get the discounts, groups will have to call in advance to the Group Sales office and make a reservation.
The Miami Seaquarium is home to a variety of sea creatures and one of Miami's main attractions since 1955. Lolita, the Killer Whale, is the park's main attraction along with the dolphins where Flipper was originally filmed.
