The Miami Spice Restaurant Program

The Miami Spice Restaurant Program is one of the most talked about annual culinary events in Miami. During the months of August and September, some of the top restaurants in Miami offer participants a more affordable and accessible way to dine and taste some of their most delicious dishes and gourmet offerings.

The Miami Spice Restaurant Program is organized by the Greater Miami Convention and Visitors Bureau and has been going strong for the past ten years since 2002. Over 100 restaurants participate in Miami Spice every year and contribute to putting Miami's thriving culinary culture on the map.

The participating restaurants are grouped into four districts; Coconut Grove, South Beach, Coral Gables and Midtown. They are some of the top-rated establishments in Miami, many of which boast of high Zagat ratings and excellent reviews. So no matter where you decide to dine, you are sure to come out with a great dining and culinary experience.

The participating restaurants feature all types of signature dishes and cuisines including contemporary American, seafood, French, Italian, Sushi, Japanese, Chinese, Mediterranean, Thai, and Pan-Asian. There are also many Caribbean and Latin American specialty restaurants to indulge in serving up Argentinean, Cuban, Peruvian, Mexican and many others. It's the perfect opportunity to discover the many facets of Miami food culture and its tropical combination of ingredients and tastes.

The Miami Spice Restaurant Program provides an affordable way to dine, especially at higher end and more expensive restaurants. There are two prix fixe three-course menus; a $22 lunch menu, and a $35 dinner menu. Tax, tips, and beverages are not included in the price, but it's a good deal for people who want to taste some of Miami's culinary masterpieces without breaking the bank. The menus represent an average discount ranging from 30 to 50 percent of regular prices depending on the restaurant.

Not all restaurants participate with the Miami Spice menus for both lunch and dinner, and some only offer them during the weekends or weekdays. Some restaurants also have their own restrictions, but also discounts and special offers such as allowing patrons to substitute menu items, complimentary valet parking, reduced-price wine pairings and other promotions. Therefore, be sure to check on the individual restaurant's website or on the site of the Miami Spice Restaurant Program before heading out. Also read the menus in advance so that there are no surprises when you get to the restaurant.
