Miami is a vibrant and eclectic city with tons of activity going on year-round. It has many events and festivals scheduled every month. Check out some of the city's most popular events in the Miami area.

1- The Discover Orange Bowl which is played in January of every year is one of the country's most popular football games. It started in 1935 and is now the second-oldest bowl game in the country after the Rose Bowl. It is one of six BSC bowl games.

2- The Art Deco Weekend Festival is held in January and celebrates Miami's Art Deco era from 1925 to 1945. It is held annually and has many lectures, music, film displays and a parade.

3- The ING Miami Marathon and Half Marathon are held at the end of January and draws in thousands of spectators and runners every year from dozens of countries across the globe.

4- The Original Miami Beach Antique Show is held in February. It is the world's largest indoor antique show with over 100 exhibits of antiques, specialty items and rare pieces with furniture, jewelry, rugs, textiles and much more.

5-The Miami International Boat Show is one of the most renowned boat shows in the world with over 2,000 exhibitors and 3,000 boats such as powerboats, sailboats, and yachts. The show also has many activities, booths, special events and activities. It has been taking place for the past 70 years and continues to attract almost 100,000 people every year.

6- The Coconut Grove Arts Festival is at its 46th edition and is held in February in Miami's colorful Coconut Grove neighborhood. Over 100,000 visitors come to the festival every year to enjoy hundreds of displays of art, crafts, cuisine, and live entertainment.

7- The Calle Ocho Festival which is held in March is one of the country's most popular annual festivals and is known as the world's largest block party. It attracts over a million visitors every year who come to experience the live Latin music, the foods, and street performances.

8- The Miami Beach International Fashion Week held in March draws in designers from all over the world coming to show their latest creations in various fashion shows and exhibitions. It is known as the largest international and Hispanic fashion event in the country.

9- The Sony Ericsson Open is the largest tennis tournament in the world with title sponsorship and one of the most popular outside the Four Majors. It is held between March and April of every year and draws in hundreds of thousands of visitors.

10- The Miami Ultra Music Festival is part of Miami Music Week and a very popular event which is typically sold out months in advance. It is the leading electronic music festival in the world and brings in some of the hottest names in techno and house music such as DJ Tiesto and David Guetta.

11- Miami Museum Month takes place during the month of May, and allows visitors to discover all that Miami has to offer in terms of museums and art venues and get fully immersed in the city's vibrant cultural scene.

12- The American Black Festival Month is held in June and features many films, documentaries and shorts. It is known to be one of the most prestigious black film festivals in the world.

13- The Miami/Bahamas Goombay Festival is one of the largest Black heritage festivals in the country and takes place in Miami's Coconut Grove neighborhood every year in June. It features tons of Caribbean entertainment and many events for all ages.

14- The Summer Shorts Festival has been allowing Miamians to enjoy short plays, from 5 to 20 minutes since 1996. The theater extravaganza takes places in June and offers something or everyone; family-friendly Shorts for Kids, Undershorts for adults and Signature Shorts, the original shorts offering.

15- The International Mango Festival is a fun celebration of the tropical fruit which takes place in Miami every year in July. It provides many exhibits of mangos from all over the world, a pick of various mango trees, and many lectures and workshops on the juicy mango.

16- The Fourth of July in Miami is one-of-a-kind with many types of events and celebrations all around town. The most well-known place to spend America's birthday is in Bayfront Park where people like to come and have a picnic and enjoy a fantastic fireworks display at night.

17- The Miami Spice Restaurant Month is a popular event two month-long program from the beginning of August until the end of September, where locals and tourists can take advantage of discounted menus at some of the area's favorite restaurants, and mouth-watering dishes crafted by world-renowned chefs.

18- The International Ballet Festival in Miami which takes place in September is one of the most renowned ballet festivals in the country and in the world. The festival, which is a highlight of Miami's eclectic cultural scene, features breathtaking performances and prestigious ballet dancers from all over the world.

19- The South Florida International Auto Show takes place every year in Miami in November. It is one of the largest and most prominent auto shows in the country and showcases over a thousand automobiles and vehicles from manufacturers all over the world.

20- Art Miami is the longest-running art show in Miami and draws in thousands of artists, dealers, curators and collectors from all over the country. The art fair is held the first week of December in every year, and features the best in contemporary art.

21- The Miccosukee Indian Arts Festival is held annually in December and allows locals and tourists alike to explore the Miccosukee Indian village at the Everglades. They can learn all about the Miccosukee tribe and its rich culture and heritage through food, entertainment and arts such as beadwork, patchwork and woodwork.
