The Sony Ericsson Open


The Sony Ericsson Open is an annual professional tennis tournament for men and women held in Miami's beautiful village of Key Biscayne. The tennis tournament is held every year between March and April at the Tennis Center in Crandon Park for a duration of twelve days. The Sony Ericsson Open is one of the largest tournaments outside the four majors which are the US Open, the Australian Open, the French Open, and Wimbledon with attendance rates reaching over 300,000. It is also the largest tennis tournaments in the world with title sponsorship. Prior to being called the Sony Ericsson Open, it the tournament was sponsored by NASDAQ-100 and Lipton International.

The Sony Ericsson Open is known as one of the most prestigious titles in professional tennis and was awarded the "Tournament of the Year" award by the Association of Tennis Professionals (ATP) for the nine out of the past thirteen years. Besides the four majors of the Grand Slam, the Sony Ericsson Open is one of the only tournaments which have over 64 players competing and drawing and the draw lasts for more than one week. All in all, 96 men and 96 women compete in the singles competition and in the 32 teams compete each in the doubles competition. The players compete for almost $5 million in prize money. It is sometimes referred to as the "fifth Grand Slam."

The Sony Ericsson Open features some of the biggest names in professional tennis such as Venus and Serena Williams, Jennifer Capriati, Maria Sharapova, Roger Federer, Rafael Nadal and Novak Djokovic. In the past, the Sony Ericsson Open also featured huge professional tennis stars such as Steffi Graff, Martina Hingis, Anna Kournikova, Andre Agassi and Pete Sampras.

The Sony Ericsson Open features tournaments with qualifying games, 1st, 2nd, 3rd, and 4th round games for both singles and doubles for men and women, and then there are games for the quarterfinals, semi-finals and finals for men and women, singles and doubles.

Depending on the seating and session, you can choose between Grandstand tickets, premium tickets and regular daily tickets.
